You stated much more eloquently than I the premise that not all art has to disected to be appreciated. As a gallery owner, I attend many shows. I see a lot of art that I cannot begin to understand why the piece was made or what in heaven or hell was the motivation to spend the time to create it. I do, however, try to find SOMETHING good or interesting or compelling about everything I see...and sometimes that is a stretch but I can usually do it. I do not care much for these artists who have the attitude 'let me share my nightmare'...but that is just my own personal taste. I do not believe that you wake up one day and decide that by calling yourself an artist you are one. I could get up tomorrow and call myself an astronaut....
'Farmer'? I can only imagine but I would take it as a compliment.
