Atop

Instance:
Description: I like to ride my bicycle around Portland and explore every nook and cranny of the city. One of my favorite places to ride is along the Alameda Ridge, a natural feature that runs through Northeast. The ridge's eastern end terminates at Rocky Butte. "Rocky Butte, like the majority of the little hills that dot the East Portland landscape (Mt. Tabor, Kelly Butte, Powell Butte, Mt. Scott, etc.) was formed by volcanic activity. This area in geologic terminology is called the Boring Lava Field (named after the town, not after, oh forget it.) Rocky Butte (elev. 610') was a cinder cone, not a small shield volcano like Mt. Tabor. What's the technical diff? I'm not sure, but you should go here to learn more: http://vulcan.wr.usgs.gov/ " This info was taken from from my "Alameda Ridge Bicycle Cruise" zine. I like the ridge so much, I made a bike ride and zine about it! (If you would like a copy of the zine, please email me!)
