| In what ways would you say that people on TV are different from yourself? | Well, everybody on TV seems to be rich. And they all seem to have like really stupid
problems that you want to just shake 'em and say, "Listen to what you're saying,
and you've got your solution right there." |
| What about families shown on television? | Well, with most of the family shows, if I had said anything to my parents like those
kids do, I would have been marched in the bathroom with a bar of soap in my mouth.
Because we got our mouth washed out with soap for being fresh and impertinent and
talking back to the parents. And you see all these precocious kids insulting their
folks, and there's a laugh track. |
| How do you feel about the way that women are portrayed on television? | If you're single, you're supposed to be man crazy. If you're married, I don't know.
Incapable of, you either have to be a career person and have that kind of a mindset
or be a mother. And when they mix them up, it seems like it's always an object lesson
that you can't do both, and it's more important to be at home with the kids. Which
maybe it is. But I'm real suspicious of the way it's presented. |
| Do you think there is too much violence on television? | Oh yeah. I mean, I don't want to watch that stuff. I don't really understand how
it sells. I don't want to watch it. And I can't imagine anyone else wanting to watch
it. And they do. And those are the shows that are popular. ( top ) |
