yes, unfortunately(?), changes made to the gridcosm world are stuck in the sands of time forever! unless, of course, you are quick enough to use the "trick" root suggests.

do not worry, however, as no matter what you think you have done "wrong" or otherwise want to change, there is no doubt 1000 other pieces like it. and plenty of new and better pieces around the corner. just keep playing!
