I had an argument in class with my teacher, Sister Thomasita Fessler(Franciscan, RIP), over line. She denied that there was any such thing - only "shapes between shapes". I argued that there is line between the shapes between the shapes. The following year, her works showed a lot of line. I don't know whether there is a connection.
