I am very close to agreeing with you on this one. One square per participant per level is very clean, elegant and true to the ideals of the project as I intended it upon creation.

What keeps me from concurring are the elements of "speed" and "dimension".

One person with a hankering to grid might have to wait a day or two for seven other people to add their unique piece to the level. This would be extremely frustrating and I can easily see it deterring participation.

I say "dimension" because I like to see what happens when individual artists break the dimension of the gridcosm, when they create two or three pieces stacked, or cornering. Rectangles within the square.

Potential "regulating automation" idea #2170: Each new level of Gridcosm is locked to "one piece per artist" for it's first six hours of life. Afterward, it is open to "two per artist". At the 12 hour mark, it is open to "three per artist". At 18 hours, "four per artist". After 24 hours, "five per artist".

Or maybe it's 2/4/6/8 in 6 hour intervals. Anyway, let's call that the "time release" method.
