I'm a little frustrated. My thoughts: Create a part of something potentially greater than your little square or the current level of grid. Then stop. And release control to the next person who comes along. And the next person who comes along, stop to contemplate what the person before was working toward. Then add to it or undermine it or confound it or transform it with ... a part of something potentially greater than your little square or the current level of grid.
