One of James Thurber's rival cartoonists once approached [New Yorker editor] Harold Ross with a rather loaded question. ''Why do you reject my drawings,'' he complained, ''and print stuff by that fifth-rate artist, Thurber?''

Ross paused a moment before replying: ''Third-rate.''

Sorry, I lost the URL of that famous anecdote.

UWI, this forum is the right place for venting. This forum keeps a lot of bile off the grid. A special ''alt.flame'' type forum would be a mistake, IMHO. A lot of the bitching contains legitimate gripes about the direction of Gridcosm.

Meaning no disrespect to MKC, but the ''gridhogging'' thread inspired the excellent levels 1790 thru 1797. Maybe SNZ did the right thing for the wrong reasons... Mussolini made the trains run on time. ...gridcosm?level=1790

Michaelangelo was homosexual, wasn't he? I think Andy Warhol was.
