Here's a technique I used to use (Can't think of any levels sorry). Note, this is absurdly complicated and should only be used while on medication or when temporarily mad.

1.) Let's say you reserve a square with only one neighboring square. Download your source image and bring it into the image editing program of your choice (As long as it has layers.)

2.)Create a 300x600 image (If horizontal). Open your source image & bump it up 300x300. Place it where it needs to be. You should now have half the rectangle with the source image- half blank. Save it.

3.)Now, make sure "constrain proportions" is turned off and change your image size to some number- for example width- 200px; height- 450px

4.)Now go to rotate canvas and "Flip horizontal", then "90 degrees CW"

5.)Finally image>adjust> invert

6.) Now go ahead, blend and create like you would normally do. When you're satisfied. Perform the last two steps in reverse so you end up back to your 300 x 600 pixel rectangle.

7.)Resize and crop accordingly so you're left with a 150x150 square.

Imagine one week of the gridcosm doing that, there would be no need for psychedlics ever again . . .
