What’s going on here?

To be direct, I am playing with sound. Is it like throwing a plate against a wall and seeing what sticks? Well, sometimes. But mostly, it’s a slow process. I’ll share a few thoughts on this but first a bit of background.

Having been raised in Omaha the general musical climate I was exposed to in the 60’s and 70’s was pure mainstream. I loved it all (and still do), from The Beatles to The Temptations, but when I was introduced to Karlheinz Stockhausen, Steve Reich and then The Mothers of Invention and Pink Floyd (Syd Barrett) I knew I had found my people. A real turning point happened my senior year of high school when I was introduced to Faust, Can, Popol Vuh and Tangerine Dream. I was in heaven. All of these artists worked with extending sound beyond previously known parameters.

Which brings me back to the moment and this project. I enjoy sound. Noise is very interesting in varying contexts. Much of the time I am attempting to be intrigued by what I’m hearing. This purpose drives my recording and sampling process. I take sounds and layer them, looking and listening for the audio image to appear.

A welcome surprise to this format is that you the listener have an interactive aspect in that you can listen to each audio piece separately or mix them as you wish. Please enjoy.
