thanks for asking! i believe the company you are thinking of is novia.net, who provides us with the connectivity for sito.org. (see, e.g., the bottom of the home page.) further, they quite generously provide us with the occasional hardware support (like when our drive crashed a week or so ago!). this company is located in omaha, nebraska, u.s. and has helped sito for many years.

the hardware sito runs on has gone through stages -- donated, found in the trash (!), leftovers, etc.

as for *funding*, well, sito doesnt really have any of that! OED and i do the day-to-day maintenance, upkeep, and programming. we welcome donations, but its never ever required.

as for the THANKS, yes, there is a *long* overdue need to make a very thorough thank you page. (the donations page attempts to do this ... a little.) however, a tiny version of all this can be found in the help files by searching on "who is sito".
