Blueweb

Instance:
Description: 768 x 768, an experiment with a specific way of mutating Mandelbrot sets. Those who know how Mandelbrot sets are made will recall that one stops iterating the equation z' = z^2 + c whenever |Z|>2. An alternative way of looking at this is that the iteration ends whenever Z lands on a point not on the filled circle of radius 2 centered at (0,0). The fun begins when we realize that *any* shape, not just a circle, can be used to determine where to end the iteration. "Blueweb" uses a fish-like shape to determine where the iteration stops. My original intention had been to creating a Mandelbrot set out of spiraling fish images, although this didn't work out as well as I had hoped. Still, the results are interesting in and of themselves. The colormap, by the way, is probably the result of having watched "The Abyss" the night before.
