Description:Part of a series I did on Rites, Rituals and Ceremonies, as they were throughout history, and whether the need for them still exists today. I guess this painting has some heavy overtones of my Catholic upbringing, three women in submission to the dogma, doctrines and rituals of "The Church" (it is hard for me to tell whether they are there out of duty or devotion or both), but I also see it as three stages of women, youth, middle age, and elderly.
