Short Biography

Victor Velt is a video and multi-media artist in New Haven, Connecticut. In 1994, he was awarded an Individual Artists Project Grant from the Connecticut Commission on the Arts for the creation of the Real Television installation project. He is currently a Video Producer at the Yale School of Medicine, and was formerly the Technical Director of the Media Arts Center in New Haven from 1990-93, and Video Curator of Real Art Ways in Hartford, CT from 1986-90.

Real Television, Artist, installation work of digital prints and videotape examining how television portrays people and situations. Exhibitions at the John Slade Ely House, New Haven; and Real Art Ways, Hartford, CT.
 

1996

Loving Care, Producer, live video and videotape presentations of performance work by artist Janine Antoni for the MATRIX gallery of the Wadsworth Athenaeum, Hartford, CT.
 

1996

I'm seeing it like I'm standing over here watching it, Artist, installation work of 100 laser prints with stereo audio tape investigating the media's role in documenting and presenting acts of violence. Exhibition at the J.S. Ely House, New Haven, CT.
 

1995

Trancendance, Director, experimental performance video of a work based on American Shaker music and texts by composer/producer Robert Carl, performed by the Bermuda Triangle.
 

1993

Media Victims, Artist, series 6 of multimedia print pieces examining issues relating to television. Exhibitions at the J.S. Ely House & Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven, CT; and the Danforth Gallery, Portland, ME.
 

1991

Garland, Artist, experimental videotape for live performance produced in cooperation with composer Robert Carl and musician Jeffrey Krieger. Presentations include: The Alternative Museum & PS 122, NYC; iEAR at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY; Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT.
